Whilst many others are starting their new year diet regime, residents at Barnes Lodge in Tonbridge have been spending the cold and dark afternoons enjoying a little indulgence.
Christmas may be over for another year but residents of the brand new Tudeley Lane care home have been enjoying some belated festivities, in the form of a cheese and wine evening.
Joined by some of their relatives, the residents gathered in the dining room to relax and natter, whilst tasting some of the delicacies provided by the kitchen staff. The group enjoyed sampling a variety of delicious cheeses, some of which they hadn’t tried before, accompanied by a selection of both red and white wine.
Nicola Newman, activity coordinator at Barnes Lodge commented: “Christmas may well be over but it’s still so cold and dark outside, so we thought a cosy cheese and wine evening would be a brilliant way to spend a cold and dark evening.
“The residents loved trying the cheeses, many of them even enjoyed trying the more adventurous cheeses, which they hadn’t ever tried before. It was a really excellent and different way to spend an afternoon!”
